Sound is an under appreciated sense when it comes to experiencing architecture. If we prioritize vision and neglect the other senses, we are almost dehumanizing art and architecture. We can grow detached and withdrawn from what we are really experiencing when our other senses are left homeless. To re-sensualize architecture, I am proposing we turn towards the sense that encompasses connection. Sight can isolate one, whereas sound brings together, it merges, incorporates. Sound leads to interiority, thought provoking experiences. Sound approaches you and receives you.
Art and architecture are not isolated. There is a spatial phenomenon that can occur that is heard and not seen. Music and architecture is the new ground for deeper thinking and further attachment to the space around us.
