The beginning design sparks from the inspiration of overgrown geometry in nature. What begins to happen when this Italian city is enhanced with a design installation that forms moments of sound experience? How does sound and music develop into form? Lucca, Italy becomes the ground for which a sound art museum is designed. Sound art is art in which sound is utilized as the primary medium and subject. This museum allows for a fluid structural design that moves throughout the entirety of the city and touches down to create moments of sound installation. The form is derived from the translation of a variety of Giacomo Puccini’s operas. The voids between the buildings become the pause between the music, the space between the notes. The voids then are where the sound art installations exist. Each installation focuses on a different experience that uses strong visuals, colored or textured fabric, to enforce the act of listening and experiencing the space in relation to sound. Throughout the year, the installation is used for various purposes, perfomances, museums, showcases. But once a year, on June 03, Lucca uses the installation in a special way. The city commemorates the lifting of the pandemic quarantine by singing and dancing, allowing music and sound to fill the streets and shops. The fabric is placed onto the installation structure dependent on the mood and intensity of the music and sound emitted into the space.
